Are you Jealous
A relaxed attitude lengthens life; jealousy rots it away. Proverbs 14:30
I was in my prayer time and was reading Proverbs 14:30 and I could not help but think of our mission’s trip to Honduras in a week. Because I remember our trip to Belize last year and the impact it had made on me as well as several people on the team. I think that there was so much going on in our hearts for the people over in Belize because we saw what they had or rather what they had a lack of. I couldn’t help but think here we are coming into their country and walking proudly as Americans feeling blessed. It made me think, do you think these people might be jealous of what we have and how we live. I felt like walking on my tip toes not wanting to disturb the people who were less fortunate. What I really was feeling in my heart was sadness for them. But as we moved through the country and were able to share Jesus with them and get to know them, and even go to their church gatherings, it hit me. They are full of joy. These children of God worshiped Him all the time. They knew that what they had was a blessing and they accepted it was what God had given to them. In comparison to our standards it wasn’t much. We based it on what we had that they had very little. I began to see the Holy spirit inside of them and how they worshiped God. I began to become Jealous and to desire their passion for God. We may feel sorry for them and think that Life has treated them unfairly. We may think they may feel jealousy of our material things and lifestyle. But I believe they are content and relaxed about what they have. They are not spoiled like we are. I believe they understand proverbs 14:30 better than we do. I have to admit I am jealous. I am jealous because I want that same spirit living in me that they have living in them.
