Shake Down

HEBREWS 12:25-29

When the world trade center towers came down in a violent attack against America, our world was shaken, many peoples lives were shaken and changed forever. The one thing that could not be shaken was our Spirit, our pride, our willingness to pull together. We rally around the American Flag as a symbol of all we stand for. When we saw then President Bush stand on top of the rubble with the megaphone and firemen and yelled that everyone hears you as the crowd was cheering USA, USA, USA, you could feel the pride and everyones differences set aside as the spirit of our country stood strong. The reality is that one day our lives, our world will be shaken. What happens after the shake? Read Hebrews 12:25-29
25 See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven?26 At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, "Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens."t27 The words "once more" indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain.
28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,29 for our "God is a consuming fire."
In this Scripture we see that God’s voice in the old law held everyone accountable to the law, and now that we have the scriptures we are able to hear His voice through the scriptures and are held even more responsible than those who broke the law. God promises that not only will his voice shake the earth but it will also shake the heavens and when the sifting is done, only the real will remain. Basically we should be so deep in our relationship with Christ that when the shaking in our life comes that Christ in our life will remain with no doubt. There is no room for straddling the fence anymore. You can’t have the best of both worlds. Your foundation needs to be in Christ and it should be solid. That is one foundation that no matter what king of quake comes Christ that is alive in you will still be standing. Just as the twin towers came down, the spirit of America could not be crushed, moved, or destroyed. It has stood the test of time and it will continue to. The fact of the matter is that you life will be shaken if it hasn’t already been. Will you still be standing and will whats inside you remain standing for all to see Gods Glory?
If I can leave you with anything, it is that make Christ your solid foundation, be in the word and live by the word. You will be accountable and more responsible than those that don’t know Christ. But you also will have a foundation that can not be shaken.
Pray this prayer... Jesus, help me to make you the foundation of my life. Help me to stay in the word daily and minimize the distractions of the enemy so that I am focused on you. Lord I want you to be the leader of my life, and counselor of all my endeavors. Lord when my life is shaken and it will be shaken at some point, I want you to remain in me and be my strength, my light and my Joy. Amen.
