Fear In the Closet

Can you remember a time when you were little that the boogie man lived in your closet or under your bed and it was just impossible to go to sleep only to find out in the morning that he was never there? I remember those days and I also remember a day when a friend of mine told me his story. When my friend was seven years old he had been playing hide and seek with his neighbor friend and while he was searching for his friend he had gotten distracted by his brother and detoured into the unknown world of “what was I just doing”? Well dinner time came and went, and then it was time to take a bath and so forth. Well soon after it was 9:00 pm and the bed time was approaching quickly. He dreaded this because of the boogie man who had made his way into his closet every night as he slipped underneath his cold sheets. He had a really bad feeling in his stomach this particular day and the sounds from the closet seemed so real. He started to sweat and shiver in fear that this night was his last. The boogie man had finally come to take him away. He heard another thump in the closet and he tried to scream for his mommy but his voice was caught in fear. He buried himself under the sheets further than ever before hoping the sounds would just go away. Another thump and it was all over, he screamed a blood curdling and his mother came running in what going on? As he said the boogie man and pointed to his closet his friend came out of the closet crying and rubbing his eyes. His friend had fallen asleep while playing hide and seek. Now some of you are probably wondering why his parents didn’t call looking for him? They had gone to a movie and the older sister was to be looking out for him. I guess she got in trouble for that one. Sometimes we often fear things that we put into the closet ourselves. We don’t understand how to face certain things so we put them in the closet or under the bed hoping that they will just go away. We need to be able to trust in God and know that he will enable us to face all things. We may not like the outcome always but sometimes the unknown can be exciting when God comes along for the ride.
John 14:27 “I am leaving you with a gift-peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give isn’t like the peace that the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

Caught in between English homework and shying away from writing my script for drama, I found myself reading some of these things. I like it, to put it simply. Now I'll write a few sentences and read some more of them!
